RCMP Commanding Officer, Chief Superintendent Jennifer Ebert and employees of PEI RCMP welcome Superintendent Kevin Lewis as the new Criminal Operations Officer for RCMP on Prince Edward Island (L Division).
Superintendent Lewis relocated to the Island along with his family and has completed his mandatory two-week COVID-19 isolation and has taken his position in Headquarters of PEI RCMP in Charlottetown. The Superintendent assumes the role previously held by Superintendent Mac Richards who recently accepted a position in British Columbia.
By way of background, Superintendent Kevin Lewis is originally from Thunder Bay, Ontario and joined the RCMP in 2002. He has been posted to Ontario, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nunavut, Northwest Territories, and Manitoba.
Superintendent Lewis has experience in General Duties, Federal Policing, and Criminal Operations. He also has tactical experience as an Emergency Response Team member and Incident Commander. Superintendent Lewis was Commissioned to Officer-in-Charge of Thompson Detachment in 2016. He later moved to the role of District Operations Officer, and promoted to Superintendent as the District Commander for Manitoba North District.
Superintendent Lewis earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Athabasca University, a Master of Arts in Leadership degree from Royal Roads University, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Walden University.
No stranger to PEI, Superintendent Lewis has been visiting the Island for the past 18 years, as his wife Staff Sergeant Beryl Lewis, is originally from Morell, PEI. They have two children ages 12 and 13. The entire family looks forward to settling into the "PEI way of life" and reuniting with family and friends.
"After providing policing services in various parts of Canada, we have always wanted to live and work on Prince Edward Island. I look forward to working on strategies and initiatives alongside our policing and community partners to make the Island a safer place", said Superintendent Kevin Lewis.
As Criminal Operations Officer, Superintendent Lewis will oversee all three District Commanders in Prince, Queens and Kings counties.
